frequently asked questions

  • What is the difference between Gaming and Pro level components?

Gaming-level components are designed to provide a simplified and enjoyable user experience. The components are durable, well-designed and combine ease of use with realism that provides an immersive experience for the gamer or intermediate sim-racing enthusiast.

Pro-level components are designed for ultra-realistic simulation applications. These products meet the needs of training professionals or racers who are looking for the most customizable and realistic experiences that closely mimic the controls you would see in a real-life racecar.

  • What do you need different/shifters for?

7-Speed Shifter: The 7-speed shifter is designed for cars that have a gated manual transmission (think street-style GT cars or NASCAR). The 7-speed shifter doesn’t have to be used only with cars that have 7-gears, but rather provides the flexibility of allowing up to 7-speed cars to be used.

6-Speed Pro Shifter: The 6-speed pro shifter is designed for cars that have a gated manual transmission and also provides an additional element of realism through the feeling of the shifter. With a robust design, the pro shifter closely mimics the feeling of shifting gears in a real car for a more realistic experience.

Sequential Shifter: Sequential shifters are primarily used in rally and rallycross racing. Instead of a gated setup, you shift gears by pushing forward or pulling back the shift lever to change gears.

Handbrake: Although not technically a shifter, the handbrake can be added to the simulator setup to provide a more realistic rally, drifting, or rallycross driving experience.

  • What do you need additional steering wheels for?

Different cars and racing classes use different steering wheels. For example, F1 uses a very specific type of wheel that you wouldn’t find in many other classes of racing. NASCAR uses a large round rim and many other styles of racing use a GT-style rim.

Having multiple rims allows for flexibility and added realism in the simulation experience.

  • How long does it take to receive my simulator?

As our simulators are built to order, we require a deposit before starting any builds. Once the deposit is received, we have a 10-week production timeline until the ship date. The 10-week timeline allows us to thoroughly test the unit and put it through our quality control protocols to ensure your product meets our standards before it arrives to you.

  • How much does shipping cost?

For Canada and continental USA customers, we have a standard ground shipping rate of XXXX. For customers looking for air or international freight, we will contact you for information during the ordering process in order to provide a quote.

  • Do you ship internationally?

Yes! We ship to customers all over the world using either air or sea freight. In order to provide an accurate shipping quote, we will need to know the address where the simulator is being sent. Please note that the customer is responsible for any duties and customs-related fees beyond the shipping quote.

  • Do you provide installation support?

Yes! We offer our White Glove Installation service that can be included as part of your purchase package. We will come to the simulator’s install location and spend up to two days to unpack and set up the simulator so it is ready for you “out of the box”. We also provide comprehensive training of the complete system so you understand how it works, how it’s maintained, and any other details you would like to know.

The service starts at $4,995 USD for Canadian and continental USA customers. The service is available to international customers by quote.

  • What software do you provide with your simulators?

We curate a combination of the most realistic and enjoyable racing simulation titles available. These software titles are for residential use only (see the FAQ below for commercial customers). The four main titles our simulators ship with are:

iRacing: The leader in realistic racing simulation and the industry standard for sim-racing. iRacing features a wide variety of cars and tracks but focuses heavily on the American racing industry (NASCAR, Sprint Car, Dirt, Stock Car etc).

Project CARS 2: Visually stunning and arguably contains the most variety of cars and tracks from all over the world, Project CARS 2 combines stunning graphics, realistic driving physics, and a huge variety of cars and tracks to become one of the most popular racing games available.

Assetto Corsa: Assetto Corsa is one of the best racing simulation titles for European-style racing. It features a beautiful gameplay experience and contains a huge library of cars and tracks from all different racing classes.

F12020: Assetto Corsa is one of the best racing simulation titles for European-style racing. It features a beautiful gameplay experience and contains a huge library of cars and tracks from all different racing classes.

Assetto Corsa Competizione: ACC is the best racing simulation title for GT3-style racing. It features a beautiful gameplay experience and contains the actual cars and tracks raced in the real-life GT3 and GT4 racing classes.

DiRT Rally 2: An exhilarating and fun-filled off-road racing experience, DiRT 4 takes you to rally circuits from all over th

  • Can my simulator be used commercially/for business?

Our simulators are frequently used for events, arcades, trade shows and other commercial applications. The software on the simulators requires a commercial license, which has a different pricing structure and application process. If you would like to use our simulators in a commercial environment, please contact us.

  • What is your warranty period and coverage?

VRX’s warranty covers VRX Manufactured components (fabricated chassis, display stand, mounting brackets, tubes etc) for 5-years. We will replace any components that fail under normal circumstances, excluding abuse and normal wear and tear.

Some components on our simulators (electronics, steering wheel, pedals, TVs, computer, motion system etc) are considered third-party components and are not covered under VRX’s warranty. These components are subject to the manufacturer’s warranty and we will help facilitate any warranty claims for these components.

  • Is your racing simulator easy to setup?

The majority of the simulator comes pre-built and just needs to have the display stand assembled, the TV(s) hung, and everything plugged in to the appropriate place. It is frequently done by our customers, however VRX provides remote installation support to walk you through the setup process.

Don’t want to do it yourself? We also offer our White Glove Installation Service.

  • What is your support process?

We provide lifetime remote support for our customers. All of our simulators have Teamviewer installed, which allows us to remotely access the simulator to diagnose and fix the vast majority of software-related issues.

If you need support, our process is as follows:

    1. Visit https://www.vrx.ca/submit-ticket/ or call 1800-723-9791
    2. Submit a support request
    3. A member of our team will contact you within 24 hours to assist you

    Our support hours are:
    9:00am - 5:00pm PST, Monday to Friday

We do provide extended support services for special circumstances.

  • Do you offer Extended Warranties or Service Plans?

Yes we do. Please contact us for more information.

  • Do you offer financing?

Currently, we do not offer financing for our simulators. We are working on implementing this in the future.

  • What are your payment options?

We are able to receive payment via bank wire transfer or cheque.

  • What is your return policy?

All simulator purchases require a deposit to start the build. The final balance is due prior to shipping. Once the simulator has left our facility, the purchase is final and the price paid is non-refundable.

If the order is cancelled once the build has started but before the simulator has left our facility, the order can be cancelled. The deposit is non-refundable.

  • What is Virtual Reality (VR)?

Virtual reality is an immersive, 360-degree viewing experience that is obtained by wearing a VR headset. Check out Is Virtual Reality Right For You? to learn more

  • What are the benefits of the different display options?

Having multiple screens increases your field of view (FOV) so you see more of the track. A bigger screen makes the experience more immersive. Combining multiple large screens will provide you an incredibly engaging and immersive experience relative to smaller monitors or a single screen. The only caveat to this is that you require more space to fit multiple screens/monitors.

  • Are there different seat options available?

Yes! We can provide a variety of Sparco racing seats with cloth, leather, or bucket style finishes. Contact us for more information.

  • How does the custom wrap option work?

All of our simulators have the option of being wrapped in a VRX or custom livery. This is an optional feature that makes your simulator unique to you. The process works a couple of ways:

    1. We can design a wrap for you and submit it for approval
    2. We iterate it until you are happy and then the livery gets applied to the final product

    OR

    1. You can download our iMotion wrap template and design a wrap yourself! Please note that you cannot use any trademarks or logos that you do not have permission to use.
    2. You submit the wrap design to us and we provide a mockup
    3. Once approved, we move to production and the wrap gets applied to the final product

You can also view our gallery of designs and previous wraps for inspiration. If you have any questions about this process, please contact us.
